Guided tours of the National Archives Center offer an opportunity to get to know the hidden part of the Center, that is to say the prohibited places (stacks, sorting and depositing rooms, photo laboratories, workshops of binding and restoration and microfilm and microfiche, digitization of documents).
Guided tours of students, pupils, and executives of institutions became one of the most important activities of the Center. They are a proof of the latter’s openness to the public, the fact that increases public’s awareness on the importance of the archives and documents which are preserved there not only for administrative, legal and scientific purposes, but also to keep alive the collective memory of the nation. Archives are therefore an irreplaceable means of confirming and preserving the identity of the people.
