Exhibitions
In valorization of the rich archives fonds in the stacks of the National Archives Center, the latter has been organizing several exhibitions within the framework of its regular activities in order to commemorate national and international events and those related to the archive sector and the archival profession. These exhibitions are also accompanied with seminars, conferences and study days, which contributes to the success of those events.
Exhibitions take place either at the Center’s headquarters or outside it; for instance, at the universities of different Wilaya (provinces), civil and military institutions and also abroad. The goal of these activities is to introduce the Center and its role in preserving the national memory and to present its archival wealth.
The first exhibition of archival documents in Algeria was held in May 1975 in commemoration of the events of May 08th, 1945. 48 copies of archival documents from the Archives of Oran were displayed in this exhibition which had a great turnout from all segments of the public.
In November of the same year, an exhibition in Algiers entitled “what’s the meaning of archives?” was inaugurated in the headquarters of the then Center’s depot which is now the annex of the National Archives Center.
